Critical U.S. Radar Damaged in Iranian Attack

A critical AN/TPY-2 radar belonging to the U.S. THAAD air defense system was reportedly damaged during Iran’s March 1 attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Satellite imagery has confirmed that the radar infrastructure was affected, with significant damage observed to certain assets at the base.

The radar is a key component of the THAAD system, responsible for target detection and tracking capabilities. In the same attack, U.S. service member Benjamin N. Pennington, who had been injured, later died.
